Graf & Taco Bell

Wednesday August 11th

Ryan volunteered to drive another guy to Graf. It is another base about 1 ½ hours away. The name is actually not Graf. It is some long German name that I can't ever remember how to spell and everyone always calls it Graf anyway. All of the personal vehicle that are shipped over here go to the processing center in Graf. So Ryan was driving him up there to get his vehicle.

On the way back he saw another castle that he wanted to show Caelyn. So after he got home we headed out. One problem… our GSP never takes you the same way twice! Literally you can be in the exact same location and put in the exact same destination and you will get a different route. We changed some of the setting so hopefully it will be more reliable in the future. But it has allowed us to see lots of place that we would have otherwise.

So we ended up ditching the castle for the night and going Graf. Graf is a HUGE base compared to Hohenfels. We needed to pick up a few things at the PX, they have the largest one in Europe. We hadn’t eaten dinner yet and decided to eat at the food court. Yeah, we told Caelyn that they had a Taco Bell before we got there so of course we had to eat taco bell. They have, I believe, 6 restaurant. Basically like a mall food court.

I am not sure that Caelyn was excited about eating Taco Bell or just having something that she recognized. But we had told her that she could have Taco Bell. When we got there every line for every different restaurant had 1-2 people max waiting. Taco Bell had about 15. About 35 minutes later we finally got our food. But Caelyn was happy.

Only had about ½ hour after that until the PX closed. I was able to get a baby gate for the top of the stairs. We live in “stairwell” housing. Basically means we have a steep spiral staircase. I am beyond paranoid about the kiddos on it. Caelyn too but mainly Eli. We had one for the bottom of the stairs but I wasn’t comfortable with it at the top of the stairs. We also got a baby monitor so that I could hear Eli when he wakes up, since our other shipment of goods is still not here.

Long ride back home but no potty breaks. Yay! I despise having to find a bathroom when we are out. If you are a paying customer most of the time it is not a problem. But even then a lot of times the bathroom are not that clean. While they do have doors on the stalls the main door to the bathroom are most of the time nonexistent or propped open. Don't know guess it is just me but I kind of like a little more privacy while in the bathroom without strange men "glancing" into the women's restroom as they go into the mens room. Then there is the whole paying to go thing. Guess with everything I like about this country there are bound to be some that I don't.
