Girl Scouts

So someone has been slacking in the old blog department again.

3/10
This month Caelyn walked in her first parade. It was more of a walk then a parade. It was for Veterans day. She walked with the Girl Scouts. They were let out of school early so that they could walk. It wasn't very long. Maybe 1/4 of a mile. The fire truck led, followed by the flag, the boy scouts, girl scouts and a couple of groups from the Army. They walked down the main road on post to a Veterans Day Ceremony. It wasn't very exciting for the girls but it was a nice little ceremony. Keeping 20 girl scouts quite during a 30 minute ceremony not so easy but they did pretty well.

By the time the ceremony was over there was only about an hour left in the school day. Caelyn became very upset when I told her that she wasn't going back to school. So I told her that if she really wanted to go to the last hour she could. The ceremony was at the Headquarters building which is right next to the school so she got to go to school for the last hour of the day. Who would have thought that she would argue about not going to school?

Also this month with girl scouts she got to make a lantern and go for a lantern walk. They were battery operated light in the lanterns. Something about giving the girls candles didn't seem like a good idea ;-). It gets dark pretty early over here so the girls had a lot of fun walking by the lights of their lanterns. They also had an MP (military police) escort which they thought was pretty cool.

I forgot my camera for both of these but I am trying to track down pictures. If I find some I will post them later.

I am now the registrar for all of the Hohenfels' Girl Scouts and the co-leader of Caelyn's troop. It has been a lot of fun for me and Caelyn. We have a lot of neat things planned for them this year. I will be sure to post pictures. Also Cookies are coming! I believe that we will be selling them in January. Let me know if you want some and we will mail some out ;-)

Kind of an off month. The first week of November there was no school on that Friday because of a teacher work day. The second week she only went 1/2 day on Wednesday because of the parade, Thursday she was off for Veterans' Day. The following week she did not have school Monday or Tuesday because they were having parent teacher conferences. (Her teachers are very please. She is at or ahead on everything). And this week she is off Thursday & Friday for Thanksgiving. That makes it so that the whole month of November they never had a full week of school. They go back for three weeks then off for two weeks for Winter Break.
