One of the funniest things Ryan ever Said to Caelyn... "You're acting like a two year old!" Why was it so funny? She was two at the time.
Eli has officially joined the ranks of the two year olds. We have yet to experience the “terrible” part of it and can’t imagine doing so… my little angel is so sweet ;-)
I am finding it hard to believe two years ago I was sitting in a hospital holding baby Eli watching the Rays try to squeak out a World Series win. They didn’t. But I found it hard to be upset about their loss holding my healthy little guy. Minus a little jaundice he was as healthy as can be. No NICUs, no leaving him at the hospital; an absolute answer to prayer. While the pregnancy was far from ideal and it wasn’t a “warm and fuzzy” delivery … actually it was quite cold and hard (the operating table, that is) we were blessed with an unbelievably awesome little guy.
Ryan came home from the field earlier than expected. So we were able to celebrate Eli’s birthday on his actual birthday. Elijah didn’t quite understand the concept that it was his birthday. But he did enjoy the presents and the cake.
We had a pretty low key birthday for him. No big party. I did make him a “train” cake. I didn’t turn out anything like I wanted it to. Didn’t have the right coloring for the icing, cake didn’t release from the pans very well… but little man loved it. I’ll have to dig out my cake decorating stuff and brush up on my skills a little. Caelyn is already requesting a princess castle cake for her birthday.
To celebrate Eli’s birthday we had a nice taco dinner (Ryan’s choice, not mine. No, really it was Ryan’s choice I promise!). Then we had cake. Eli was most impressed with his Thomas the Train toy that I used on the cake. But he did blow out his candle with very little prompting. After cake Eli opened his presents. Caelyn was more than a little disappointed to figure out that Eli doesn’t need her help opening presents anymore.
Caelyn and Eli had a blast playing with his new train set. He has played with it for hours every day since he got them. He knows all of the trains by their names and loves to try to fit them all on the track at the same time… I have a feeling he might be getting some more track pieces for Christmas, at the very least for the train’s sake.
He really also enjoyed his talking Buzz Lightyear toy. He loves to fly it around when he can manage to get it away from Caelyn. She loves popping out his wings and when he says "To infinity and beyond!"
