Girl Scouts World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is a day that the Girl Scouts around the world learn out different countries and what different people live like.

Here each troop was assigned a project to help learn about what life was like for girls in Afghanistan. Caelyn’s troop was in charge of teaching the other troop how to play some games that they play in Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan they play a game using the knuckle bones from dead animals. They drawl a circle on the ground. The kids try to throw their bone in the circle while knocking the other kid’s bones out of the circle. We chose to use rocks instead 

One of the other troops showed a video that was on CNN about a five year old who had to collect garbage for her family to burn so that they could stay warm. They were also doing a blanket drive to collect blankets, school supplies, stuffed animals ect.

I showed Caelyn the video before the meeting because I wasn’t sure how she would respond to it and I wanted to be able to answer her questions if she had any. It was really neat to see how much compassion Caelyn had for the little girl in the video. I think that she would have emptied her entire room to donate if I would have let her.

Here is a link to the video they showed:
