For the 100th day off school all three kindergarten classes were doing “rotations” between the classrooms. They had 1/3 of each class in each group so that they could work with the kids from the other classes.
I had volunteered to going in to her class that morning to help with the rotations. They were having two rotations in the morning and the third in the afternoon. While Caelyn was doing her rotations I stayed in her classroom to help her teacher out with the other kids. It just worked out that Caelyn’s group was the last group to rotate to her classroom.
Meaning that she didn’t get to do the rotation with me. After some scrambling our wonderful neighbor who was watching Eli agreed to watch him again in the afternoon. So after the morning rotations I came home and had lunch with Eli and then went back up to the school.
They were doing all different projects: strings 100 fruit loops to make a necklace, making a picture out of 100 pieces of macaroni, ect.
The group I was helping out with was graphing 100 M&Ms to see what color they had the most of. We were also cutting out pictures of hands, gluing them to a paper, and then using them to count by 5 & 10’s to 100.
During the afternoon rotation Caelyn’s teacher’s aid was diving up the groups as to which table they would sit at, to make sure there was kids from each of the three classes in each table group. She initially put Caelyn at a different table then I was working at. Caelyn’s face dropped, she was so disappointed. At the same time Caelyn’s teacher interrupted the teacher’s aid and said “Why don’t you put Caelyn with her mom, she has been waiting all day to be in the same room as her.” Caelyn’s face lit up and she was as happy as could be. We had a lot of fun.
I love being able to go and help out in her class room but don’t get to do it very often.
Good job....Way to go teacher! :-)
