Long day of in processing the kids and I. Wasn’t too bad except we had to go get our “No-Fee” passports and Visa right at nap time. Eli wasn’t thrilled but he settled down after a bit. The guy that was doing them was very patient with the whole process. Our visas should be here in plenty of time so as not to conflict with the 90 days we have on the tourist passport.
We also made it to the finance office to get everything switched for Ryan living in housing instead of the barracks. We didn’t have all the paperwork so we will have to go back tomorrow.
Also stopped by Caelyn’s school and got the paper work needed to register her there. Thankfully they have a huge playground so Caelyn is now, once again excited about going there. Caelyn’s thoughts on the playground: “It is the hugest I’ve ever saw!”
Tomorrow we also have to hit the Health Clinic, Dental clinic, Army Community Services, back to the school to drop off paperwork, and back to the central processing facility to turn in our packet of information. Ryan was supposed to have staff duty tomorrow (24 hours shift) but was able to get out of it so that we could finish in processing. Glad that we will get to spend some more time with him just wish it was doing some that was a little more fun.
So far Ryan’s schedule hasn’t been terrible. He has PT at 6 am. After they are done there he usually gets 1 ½ hours off to eat and shower. So he is usually home for about an hour or so. Then back to work. Most days he gets a lunch break and is able to come home for lunch since we live so close. The time he gets off depends on what they are doing that day but so far he has been home every night for dinner. Kids are loving seeing daddy but they do miss everyone “back home”.
Still have to start studying for my driving test so that I can drive over here. Rumor has it that their training schedule is about to pick up and Ryan might be spending a lot of time in the “box”. Hopefully I’ll be able to get the driving test done before that so that we are not stuck here with a car but still unable to go anywhere.
The commissary is very close. It is probably about ¼ mile away. So we could definitely walk there if we needed to.
We are close to the air strip here. Not sure that they have any planes but have seen a lot of helicopters. They must be doing night training tonight. Just heard a bunch of them coming in to land. You actually get used to hearing them all day as well as hearing random explosions as other units "blow stuff up."
Weather has been beautiful! I love it! Caelyn can't wait for the snow. So far on her list are: building a snow man, snow ball fight and making snow angels. Anxious to see if she will still be excited after the snow has been around for awhile.
We have a fenced in back yard. Eli loves running around out there. We have two doors leading toward the back yard. When I am in the living room or dining room I have full view of the back yard. Hopefully we will finish getting the house put together and in processing done soon so that we can spend more time out there before it gets too cold.
