Tuesday July 27th
This morning we got a couch and two chairs delivered from the Army. We are borrowing them for up to 90 days until our furniture gets here. We also got a kitchen table and chairs. Yay!
Caelyn the hero… All of our windows and both doors that go out to the back yard and be opened either on the side, to swing open like a door or the top can unhinge and “lean in” to allow for air flow but keep the rain out. Caelyn has a door in her room. We hadn’t found the key to it yet (literally at least 20 keys for this house. Every window and door has a different key for it). Well, I had finally found the key for her door. It was raining outside to I was just going to open the top to allow for some fresh air. She thought that the door was falling. Eli was standing right next to me. She ran over to grab him and "saved" him from the falling door. Adorable!
They were also supposed to come to deliver our first shipment of stuff from home. They were supposed to be here between 2-4. They showed up at 5:30 just was I was pulling dinner out of the oven. Normally I might have been a little annoyed but I was just thrilled to have toys for the kids and dishes so that we can cook real food again.
Kiddos couldn’t have been happier. I so wish that I had a video camera when I brought Eli’s ride on toy around the corner. He was still in his stroller from eating dinner (no booster yet). I thought that he was going to jump right out of it. Kids had a blast playing with all of their “long lost toys”.
We got our pillows, blankets, almost everything for the kitchen, movies, Wii, DVD player. There is only one or two boxes left to unpack but so far everything has made it in one piece. There was one of the Rubbermaid bins that got pretty smashed. Luckily it only had some clothes in it so no biggie.
Our furniture and rest of our stuff should be here within the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to being about to cook in my new kitchen with my dishes! I’ll have to think of some German dish to experiment with. Agenda for tomorrow is getting the rest of the boxes unpack and getting the house situated.
We do have prepaid cell phones. But they are quite expensive. Only using them for emergencies at this point. They should be coming within the next couple of weeks to hook up phone service. (Have no idea why it take so long, but it does). Supposedly we will have unlimited calls to the states but we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll let you know when we get the number. They told us that we couldn’t get DSL where we live so we’ll have to come up with another plan or internet. Right now we are using a prepaid USB device. But it’s a bit pricy so hoping we can find something better.
